Board meeting of Network for Sustained Elimination of Iodine Deficiency was held in Ottawa, Canada on Jun. 15-16, 2006.  Delegates of 10 international organizations attended this meeting. Mr. Lin Jiahua, Vice President of China National Salt Industry Corporation was invited to this meeting.

The main topics of this meeting are as follows:
1. Importance of Partnership for Achieving USI;
2. Network Communication Strategy;
3. Country Assessment Report;
4. Update of Board Members;
5. Membership to the Network Board: Roles of Network Board Members;
6. Terms of Reference of the New Secretary;
7. Support to Secretariat 2007-2008.

Mr. Lin Jiahua introduced China’s IDD Elimination progress in recent two years with the focus on social mobilization in western China and Asian Salt Forum held in 2005. All participants praised China’s effort on USI and IDD Elimination. It’s agreed that the next board meeting will be held in Tibet, China during the second week of July, 2007.
